Welcome back to the Ruffled Peyote Cuff project.

In the series so far, we have completed the two Peyote Bands using Flat Cellini technique combined with Even Count Peyote stitching.

Next, we made the Center Focal Section, using a modified variation of Right Angle Weave and 2 hole Superduo beads.

I also demonstrated two ways of creating the center section and how to connect the units with 2-hole Tile Beads.

Today we are going to connect the three strips of beadwork together using both colors of 11/0 Seed Beads and once again we are going to use the Right Angle Weave technique to accomplish the task.

If you are new to the project, you can catch up using the links to the left.

The full project materials list and project info is available in the Intro

Tools and Materials

The only supplies we are going to use in this step are:

  • 2 Colors of 11/0 Seed Beads (used in the Bands)
  • 1 Size 11/ or smaller Beading Needle
  • 2-3 Wingspans of Beading Thread

Getting Started

To make things a little easier, start by weaving off the remaining tail threads from your stips of beadwork.

If you prefer, you can tie half hitch knots in a few places, move away from the last knot and end the threads.

In my case, I am left with two decent length working threads and one that is too short to work with. So I ended the short one as above.

If you have ended all your threads, simply add  a new one to your project.

We are going to use the top and bottom points on our center section and the two Delica beads above each pyramid on the base bands as our connection points.

Since I am left handed, I will be connecting the center section to the bottom band first, and I will be sewing from the left end of the bracelet to the right.

I will begin my work using the remaining working thread on the center section.

The 1st Connection

Get into position, by sewing down to the tip Superduo on your last component.

The working thread should be exiting the open hole at the bottom of the bead.

The next step is to create a Right Angle Weave unit.

Pick up three 11/o SBs, pass back through the bead again from the opposite side and pull through.

Sew back down through the first SB and sew over through the second SB as shown.

Note in the first picture I have flipped the work to make the stitch easier.

Keep your tension tight.

I have been working with the left end component of my center section, now I will stitch into the same end of the lower bracelet band.

Remember we are going to work with only the two Delica beads above each pyramid and since my working thread is exiting to the right hand side of the 11/0 SB, I will begin sewing down into the Delica on the right.

Sew down into the corresponding Delica bead on the base.

Sew up through the second Delica of the working pair

Pull the thread snugging the center section up to the band.

Sew back though the SB on the RAW unit above.

Reinforce the connection between this SB and the two Delicas by repeating the the same thread path above.

Next sew back down through the first Delica again.

Positioning

Sew up and down through the Delica beads on the inner edge of the band until you reach the next pair of Delicas.

Make sure to pull the thread all the way through after each stitch.

You will be in position when your thread is exiting the top of either Delica at the top of the next pyramid.

For all the remaining connections on this side of the cuff, we first need to add and 11/0 SB to the Peyote strip. And the we will use that bead as the bottom bead in the RAW unit to connect to the next Superduo component.

The Remaining Connections

Pick up an 11/0 and sew down the second Delica of your working pair.

Sew back up through the first Delica and over through the new SB.

Reinforce through the three beads again.

The working thread winds up exiting the SB on the band to the right side.

I stitch the following steps counter-clockwise.

Pick up an 11/0 and sew through the open hole of the Superduo.

Pick up and 11/0 and sew through the SB on the base band.

Tighten the new unit and reinforce by passing through all the beads again.

The working thread should wind up in the same starting position as before, exiting the SB on the band to the right side.

For the seven remaining connections, you will repeat the Positioning and Connection steps above.

Now is a good time to tell you that I alternated using my two colors of SBs to match the Superduo components.

Adding the Tile Bead & Crossing the Bead Work

When we made the Center section of beadwork, I left off saying we could add the final tile bead as we connect the pieces of beadwork.

When we left off above, the working thread is exiting the SB on the base-band to the right.

Sew up the 11/0 SB on the right side of the RAW unit.

Sew over through the Superduo.

Weave through the Superduos, until you are exiting the inner hole of one of side Superduos.

Add the last Tile Bead and reinforce the thread path at least once.

Sew around to the open hole of the tip Superduo on the other side of the bead work.

Now you can simply repeat all the steps above for the first connection, positioning and the remaining connections.

Take the time to reinforce as directed so your bracelet will be uniform, durable and professional looking.

We will pick up next time, we will proceed with the Embellishment, Finishing the Edges and adding our clasping.

Thank you for stopping by today......
