Welcome back to Part 2 of the Twisted Tubular Herringbone Variations Tutorial.
As I explained in the Intro, this is a primer and a project series.
In Part 1 of the Series, we created the first section of the Bangle and we left off needing to close Section One of the beadwork with a mirror image of the Crystal Ladder Stitch Base.

The series is broken down into four parts and You can find the full Class Outline and the Materials list in the Intro:

In today's Lesson

Finishing the First Half of the Bangle:

  • Step 4 – Finishing Section 1 of the Beadwork

  • Step 5 – Reversing the Twist and Section 2 of the bead work

  • Step 6 – Create the Second Half of the Bangle

In this part of the Series we will finish the first section by creating a mirror image of the ladder base of crystals.

We will add the the second section of Twisted Herringbone, only this time we are going to reverse the twist.

After completing the first half of the bangle, you will go back and create the other side of the bangle exactly as in Parts 1 and 2 of the series.

Of Special Note:

I am left handed and sew to the right – therefore the twist of the second section will go to the left.

If you are right handed and sew to the left – you twist will veer off to the right.

Finishing Section 1 - Adding the Crystal Ladder

To end the first section, we need to add the same amount of crystals to the top of each column, that we have in the base below.

Then use ladder stitching to add the thread bridges at the top and bottom of each set of crystals to close the bead work exactly like the 2 bead Ladder in the initial base of crystals.

Reversing the Twist in Section 2

In this Step you will learn how to reverse the twist of the tubular herringbone. If you are going to make the bangle, you will need to complete the following:

  • 5 Rows of Tubular Herringbone
  • 5 Rows of Reversed Traditional Twisted Herringbone – Pick up two beads and pass down two beads then step up one into the next column. At the end of each round, you step up one into the first column.
  • 5 Rows of Reversed Extreme Twisted Herringbone – Pick up two beads and pass down three beads then step up one bead into the next column. At the end of each round step up one into the first column.

Do not end your thread after the last row. Refer back to Part 1 of the series if you need to refresh your memory on the stitches.

For the Bangle

In this design, I created a second piece of beadwork, identical to the first.

If you create two of the first sections in Part 1, then all you need to do is repeat the steps here in Part 2 to finish the second half of the project.

If you waited, just repeat Parts 1 and 2 to make your second piece of bead work and meet me back for the final installment of the series.

In the Next Post

Finishing the Bangle:

  • Step 7 – Creating the Focal Section
  • Step 8 – Measuring and Finishing the Bangle

In the final portion of the series we will connect the two halves of the bead work creating a delicate Crystal focal section first.

Finally we will discuss sizing and adding the last section and close the bead work.
