Recently, I subscribed to a one month trial on Interweave’s Subscription Platform.
I found a great little primer on Herringbone Stitch there by Melina Barta, whom I really like.
I learned quite a bit about this stitch and this month I want to share some of techniques I picked up with you.
My initial plan for teaching these new techniques was to do a short technique video or two but I fell in love the with wild color combination.
Now, I am combining the videos with some Blog Posts to present you with not only the primer on Twisted Tubular Herringbone Variations bus also a project for a Beaded Bangle.
Step 5 – Reversing the Twist and Section 2 of the bead work
Step 6 – Create the Second Half of the Bangle
Finishing the Bangle:
Step 7 – Creating the Focal Section
Step 8 – Creating the Bangle
Herringbone Stitch traditionally starts with a base row of beads that have been ladder stitched together. This is the start I will be using in this series. This step is not included in the video but you can watch myLadder Stitch Basics Video on The Alluring Bead Boutique Design Channel.
If you need help with the techniques used in this primer you can check out my Technique Guides by clicking the links below and master the basic stitches with ease.
I chose the Lemon, Peridot and Dark Topaz transparent seed beads, all of which have the AB finish, and the Burgundy crystals for this project.
You can choose any brand or colors of beads and crystals you like but try to keep the size of the beads to those recommended in the materials list. Changing the size of the seed beads and crystals alter the length of a project of this type.
The instructions provided in this series will produces an 8.5 inch Bangle.
In the final part of the series – Finishing the Bangle, I will explain how to adapt the design to fit your specific size.
So gather your materials and meet me back for the Twisted Tubular Herringbone Variations Primer and the Bangle project.
